About Halekulani Hotel
Halekulani, Hawaiian for "house befitting heaven," is the epitome of understated elegance. Originally a small hotel called Hau Tree about one hundred years ago, Halekulani quickly expanded into a stylish resort that has seamlessly blended modern upgrades with traditional influences. The living room is open air, allowing the island tradewinds to pass and a golden glow to shine from the skylight. The high white walls and sweeping curtains may conjure up images of a South Hampton mansion, but the gracious hospitality and unassuming charm are uniquely Hawaiian. Although located in the middle of Waikiki, guests can easily forget as the tranquil environment is worlds away from the hustle and bustle of Kalakaua Avenue.
Rooms reflect the hotel's painstaking attention to detail. Starting at $435 per night, each room features a large lanai with stunning views, separated glassed-in shower and deep soaking tub, minimum 40-inch flat panel televisions, and a welcome fruit bowl and chocolates.
Its signature Orchid pool is a heated 46-by-82 foot freshwater pool overlooking Waikiki Beach. A glass mosaic of a Cattleya orchid grazes the bottom of the pool and is comprised of 1.2 million pieces of South African tiles. Personal attendants are on hand to provide any necessity, from cold towels to CDs. The concierge desk is a helpful resource for arranging outdoor activities, such as surfing, deep-sea fishing, snorkeling, and outrigger canoe rides.
The state-of-the-art fitness center provides fitness consultants and professional in-room massages, while SpaHalekulani blends authentic Polynesian therapeutic rituals and modern products and techniques.
Halekulani's dining options are as simply elegant as the hotel itself. La Mer, a romantic Neoclassic French restaurant with breathtaking ocean views, has constantly been ranked a AAA Five Diamond Restaurant. Orchids is a casual oceanfront restaurant noted for its Sunday Brunch. House Without A Key is an informal outdoor restaurant providing cocktails and live Hawaiian music. Lewers Lounge transports guests to earlier decades, with live jazz and unique libations. Afternoon Tea at Halekulani is a timeless tradition of fine teas and coffees, as well as freshly-baked pastries, served in the Veranda.
Staying at the Halekulani is truly an unforgettable experience. Very few are able to attain that perfect balance of sophistication without the stuffiness. The Halekulani, however, does it beautifully.
