About Ilikai Hotel & Suites
The Ilikai Hotel is the hotel featured in the "Hawaii Five-O" television series, in which Jack Lord stands on the balcony during the opening credits. The blue-and-white exterior of this iconic hotel has not changed much, save for some minor renovations. Located at the "entrance" to Waikiki, the Ilikai sits right between the Hilton Hawaiian Village and the Modern Honolulu, taking advantage of the Hilton's weekly fireworks show and luaus, and the Modern's delectable restaurants and bars. Nearby is Ala Moana Shopping Center, Hawaii's largest shopping center and one of the largest open-air malls in America. Just two blocks away is the Hawaii Convention Center, making the Ilikai a convenient place for those on attending conferences and conventions.
Thirty stories high and offering balcony views of the city and ocean, the Ilikai was designed by the same architect of Seattle's Space Needle, John Graham. The hotel is retains a classic Hawaiian feel with modern touches. Each guestroom has separate workspaces, luxurious bedding, and free in-room high-speed Internet access. Rooms are available with views of the Ko'olau Mountains, Pacific Ocean, and Duke Kahanamoku Lagoon. This lagoon is a perfect place for the family, with still waters for standup paddling, and a shallow depth making it safe for even the youngest of children to explore the water.
Sarento's is an elegant Italian restaurant located on the rooftop of the Ilikai Hotel, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Waikiki and the rest of Honolulu. Guests can ride the glass elevator up to the top floor and watch the sun set over the west. Enjoy the live pianist while dining on delectable Italian fare. The Ilikai Bar and Grill is a casual restaurant serving traditional American cuisine with a Hawaiian twist. As guests enjoy the relaxing outdoor island setting, they can behold the Waikiki marina and Friday night fireworks show. If guests crave more than Italian food, a plethora of dining options is a mere stroll away. The popular Morimoto Waikiki right next door serves innovative Japanese food created by Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto. Other nearby restaurants are Monsoon India, Cheeseburger in Paradise, Red Lobster, Starbucks, Outback Steakhouse, and Wailana Coffee House. Guests will never have to worry about being at a safe distance from the noisy, chaotic center of Waikiki.
An apparel and sundry shop, an outdoor swimming pool, a beauty salon, 24-hour fitness center, coffeeshop, and massage center are located on site. Each floor conveniently has its own laundry facilities. The Ilikai Hotel is partnering with Island Grocery Service, an online grocery service that allows guests to shop for groceries online and having them placed in guestrooms prior to arrival.
With the Honolulu International Airport just seven miles away, and trolley and bus stops located right outside the hotel entrance, the Ilikai Hotel is convenient to any destination. "Hawaii Five-O," the show that has made the Ilikai famous, has inevitably evolved over time, but the affordable luxury the Ilikai offers to its guests continues.
