About Queen Kapiolani Hotel

Queen Kapi'olani was born Kapi'olani Napelakapuokaka'e, in Hilo in 1834, into the chiefly lineage of Kaua'i. She became Queen when her second husband, David Kalakaua won the election in 1874 after the death of King Lunalilo. A woman of humility and composure, Queen Kapi'olani was known for her grand receptions and dedication to the health of her people. She founded the Kapi'olani Maternity Home in 1890, now called the Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women and Children, to improve birth rates for mothers and their babies. An accomplished musician and composer, she also preferred to speak in her native tongue throughout her life instead of the more popular English. A large painting of Queen Kapi'olani in her famous blue peacock accented dress, which she wore during her trip to London to meet her equal Queen Victoria, hangs in the lobby of the Queen Kapiolani Hotel.

Named after Hawaii's royal queen, the Queen Kapiolani Hotel offers grandeur and value at the same time. Located on the easternmost edge of Waikiki's hotel-lined street, the a grand sight of arches and plant motifs carved into wood. The sparkling open-air lobby beckons in guests and the tropical breezes. With unparalleled views of Diamond Head and the 108-acre Kapiolani Park, and just a block from Waikiki Beach, the location of this hotel is convenient for any guest's Hawaiian itinerary.

All rooms are equipped with a refrigerator, free WiFi throughout the hotel, an in-room safe, coffeemaker, iron and ironing board, phone and voicemail, and a 40-inch LCD television with cable. Most guest rooms have private balconies, offering a prime location from which to watch the sunset or enjoy your morning cup of coffee. Sometimes the lower floors can even hear the sounds of the animals from the nearby zoo, lending a tropical feel to your home away from home in paradise. Select rooms feature complete kitchenettes with microwaves and utensils.

Guests can lounge on the expansive sundeck and read the complimentary daily paper or go for a dip in the pool on the third floor. Queen Kapiolani Hotel offers meeting and event facilities, including copying and fax services and audio visual equipment. The front desk and Internet kiosk in the lobby are both open 24 hours. Also in the lobby are a coffee shop and deli for your daily convenience. For help planning excursions around the island, stop by the activity desk.
